Remembering Dr. Manjit Singh Kang: A Pillar of Agricultural Excellence

Ludhiana, May 03, 2024 – Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, esteemed alumnus and former Vice-Chancellor, on May 02, 2024. A pioneer in quantitative genetics and crop improvement, Dr. Kang’s contributions profoundly impacted agricultural science.

Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, current Vice-Chancellor, expressed deep sorrow, praising Dr. Kang as an inspirational leader and dedicated academician whose work significantly advanced agricultural practices.

From 2007 to 2011, as Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Kang prioritized research and development, enhancing PAU’s global reputation. His leadership fostered innovation and collaboration, transforming PAU into a hub for agricultural advancements.

Honored with the ‘Pride of Punjab’ award in 2018 and the ‘Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Achievers Award’ in 2019, Dr. Kang remained humble, valuing the success of his students and colleagues above all.

Dr. Gosal noted, “His passing is a great loss to the global agricultural community. We will continue to honor his legacy through excellence in research and education.”
